Being Led By The Spirit

I was reading Numbers chapter 9 this morning and my attention was drawn to how closely the children of Israel followed the pillar of fire:

NUMBERS 9:17-23
17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
18 At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.
20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
23 At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

If the cloud stopped; they stopped (whether it was for two days, or a month, or a year), and as soon as the cloud started moving again they moved (whether it was in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the middle of the night).

I hope that we can be so sensitive to the Holy Spirit that when He says ‘Move’; we move, and when He says ‘Don’t move’; we stand still.

If it’s in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the middle of the night.

If we’ve been in the same geographical location, or doing a certain thing for the Lord two days, or a month, or a year. Would you have me wait here Lord, and remain the same, or go into action somewhere else, or be doing something else?

I’m reminded of the following quote (also found in the Church Age Book p172):

THE.SPOKEN.WORD.IS.THE.ORIGINAL.SEED_ JEFF.IN V-3 N-2 SUNDAY_ 62-0318
“Notice, what harmony. Jesus never did anything until seen of the Father or the Father showed Him first: (Harmony between God and Christ. See? John 5:19) So will the Bride, and He shows Her His Word of Life (He shows Her), and she receives It. She never doubts it.
Nothing can harm Her, not even death; for if the Seed be planted, the water will raise it up again. Amen. (Now, I got a great big “Hallelujah.”) Here is the secret: the Word is in the Bride and the mind of Christ to know what He wants done with the Word, and She does it in His Name. She has THUS SAITH THE LORD.
Then it is germitized; so the Holy Spirit waters it until it is grown and serves its purpose.
They do only His will
. (Amen. I’ll believe that.) No one can persuade them different. They have THUS SAITH THE LORD, or they keep still. Then they will do the works of God. For it is Himself in them, continuing His Word to fulfill as He did complete in His day. All things when He was here–He did not complete all when He was here, for it was not time yet”.

Whatever You want is what I want.
How can You use me today?
Where would You have me go today?
Is the pillar of fire standing still? Is this where I’m supposed to be today? Is this what I’m supposed to be doing today, or is It leading me somewhere else or to do something else?
Would You have me to wait, watch, and pray, or should I be out somewhere witnessing, singing, preaching a sermon, or living a sermon (a written epistle read of all men)?
Will I be the only Bible that someone reads today?

REVELATION.CHAPTER.FOUR.3_ JEFF.IN ROJC 645-716 SUNDAY_ 61-0108
Oh, how we need in Jeffersonville thousands of lived voices, the thunder of God thundering out in sweetness, and holiness, purity, undefiled lives, walking around in the earth today without a blemish. Yes, sir, real Christians, that’s thunder against the enemy. The devil don’t care how loud you can holler; the devil don’t care how much you can jump, how much you can do this or shout. But what hurts the devil is to see that sanctified, holy life consecrated to God; say anything to him, call him anything, just as sweet as it can be and move right on. Oh, my. That throws him away; that’s the thunder that shakes the devil.

“Lead me Lord I’ll follow anywhere you open up the door”.
“Let your word speak through me”.
“Lord I want to be a witness”.

“Where You lead me I will follow”.

“Millions now in sin and shame are dying. Listen to their sad and bitter cry. Hasten brother, hasten to their rescue. Quickly answer; ‘Master, Here am I’”.

“Here am I; send me!”

REVELATION.CHAPTER.FOUR.2_ JEFF.IN ROJC 585-643 SUNDAY_ 61-0101
And as the poet went on to say, Father:
Millions now in sin and shame are dying; (Over in Africa, down in India, around the world, thousands an hour, meeting You without knowing You)

Now, it might be your neighbor; it might be the woman you work with, the man you work with, but they’re…
Millions now in sin and shame are dying; (In creeds and denominations)

There is millions now in sin and shame, are dying;
(look on the streets)

Are we sensitive enough to The Holy Spirit to be led where He would have us go, and stay where He would have us stay? To do what He would have us do, and to say what He would have us say?
Or have our senses been numbed so badly by the things of the world (by complacency, and worldliness, and the hustle, and bustle of everyday life) that we can no longer hear where that still small Voice is leading us?
Are we willing to pay the price and go wherever He leads?
Are we so in tune with His Will that we have THUS SAITH THE LORD or we keep still?

If we aren’t then the time has come to fall to our knees and cry out to God until we know what He would have us do, and where He would have us go. Until we know that we are in His Perfect Will, and that it is Him doing the leading, or we stop and seek what He would have us do until the pillar of fire starts moving again.

Now the children of Israel didn’t just lay in their tents all the time and assume the cloud wasn’t moving. They had to watch to know if It was still there, or if it was leading them somewhere else.

Don’t just assume that the Holy Spirit doesn’t want you to do something simply because you aren’t seeking Him to find out. There’s a work for all to do, but maybe you’ve just fallen asleep in your tent instead of watching where He’s leading, and have failed to see that the pillar of fire has moved on without you.
