Bro Branham says in the message, “Palmerworm, locust, cankerwork, caterpillar” (59-0823):

79 Now, not… The people say, “Well, that’s against my faith.” There’s only one faith, one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. You might have a faith, but we want the faith. Earnestly “contend,” that’s “argue for it, standing–stand up for.”
… earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
When were they called saints? When they were sanctified. The Holy Spirit sanctified them; they were called saints. Now, Jude says, a brother, foster brother of Jesus, “I want you to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.” Don’t never let that faith drop.
And the faith of the saints was not in creeds, not in denominations, not in church buildings, not in associations, but it was in the Presence of the living God. They had faith to heal the sick, cast out devils, do miracles. All the great promises that Jesus made, that first church held onto that. It was the lifeline.
82 Listen here; listen close to what I want to tell you. The ever-Presence of the living God is the lifeline of any church or any bunch of people, the ever-Presence of the living God to perform and to do, and to act and to live with the people as He did at the beginning. If the Presence of the living God brought a Pentecost with power, with signs, with wonders, brought a people so full of the glory of God till they shouted and spoke with other languages, and went and martyrs for the faith, let’s earnestly contend for that faith until death shall set us free. Earnestly contend for it. We will not compromise, upon reading books, taking some man-made theology. We’ll not compromise upon some creeds or some prayer books, or something somebody else has said.

I wrote previously commenting on the last line of this quote. I focused on our part, earnestly contending for this faith. Now, I’d like to just comment and look at a slightly different thought in the same quote.

Bro Branham tells us by the scripture there is only one faith. He says “you might have a faith, but we want THE faith.” Obviously there has been some confusion about what THE faith is. So which faith is THE faith of which we are to contend for? Methodist faith? Pentecostal? Baptist? Parousia? Tent? Thunders? Five Fold? Tapes only? Which faith?

Then he goes on to list what it’s not.

Creeds
Denominations
Church Buildings
Associations

Then what is?

“The Presence of the living God.”

He goes on to tell us how that Presence manifested itself. And what that faith did. “heal the sick, cast out devils, do miracles. All the great promises that Jesus made, the church held onto THAT.”

I know, I know, you can read this quote for yourself… but are you catching all that he’s saying?

Next he tells us to “listen close”, and he tells us what the lifeline of any church is.

“the ever-presence of the living God is the lifeline of any church”

Then again, he tells us what that will look like.

“To perform, to do, and act and to live with the people as He did in the beginning.”

Then He says… “If the Presence of God” (remember that’s the lifeline) “brought a Pentecost with power, with signs, with wonders, brought a people so full of the glory of God till they shouted and spoke with other languages, and went and martyrs for the faith let’s earnestly contend for that faith, until death shall set us free.”

My my, what faith are you earnestly contending for? For some doctrine? Some creed? Some certain way of seeing the message? Or are you contending for the LIFELINE!! The ever-presence of the living God!

When we can look past the doctrinal fences we’ve built up…and allow God’s spirit to move amongst us, and see what our lifeline truly is…what might take place in the church of the living God.

Truly, there is more out there than this doctrine or that. I long for the ever-presence of the living God, manifesting just like he said it would. I long to be connected to the lifeline.
